The Mediterranean Diet International Course took place in Faro (Portugal) from the 27th to the 29th of November, 2019.
The Mediterranean Diet International Course, which was attended by over 50 MD.net partners, national trainers, stakeholders and speakers; had the objective to prepare the partners to implement the national trainings taking place during the first semester of the coming year.
The course was structured in three thematic panels: 1) Natural and cultural landscape 2) Food and gastronomy heritage and 3) Cultural heritage and tourism. Each of these panel had speakers representing the academic, public and enterprise sector. After the presentations, a round table took place to exchange experience between the speakers and attendees. Along the panels, it was organised a workshop where the participants discussed how to value and promote Mediterranean Diet. On the third day, the study visits focused on showing diverse experiences reflecting the Mediterranean lifestyle in the Algarve.
Besides the training, the attendees had the chance to learn about the Portuguese cuisine cooking a “Cataplana”, a traditional seafood dish from Algarve and socialize in a cocktail dinner with food products from the different regions. As a result of the training, the participants left Faro with a clear understanding about what is expected from their national trainings and a set of materials and methodologies to support its implementation.
The attendees praised the high quality and appropriate content of the diverse presentations and the excellent organization of the event by the Algarve University.
