The Focus Group was developed last April 25th in Barcelona, Spain.
Prodeca, as a partner of the MD.net project framed in the European program INTERREG MEDITERRANEAN, has organized in Barcelona an expert panel to validate the criteria that define the Mediterranean Diet concept as well as the strategies to follow to communicate it more effectively, taking into account concepts that go beyond those related to health and nutrition.
The main objective of the focus group has been to explore the opportunities offered by the Mediterranean Diet in accordance with the Convention of the Mediterranean Diet of UNESCO, which combines integral concepts with innovative tools.
The group comprised 19 people with different profiles from the business world, research, scientists specialized in Mediterranean Diet, experts in Intangible Cultural Heritage as well as communication and marketing specialists. Representatives of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Generalitat de Catalunya, as well as the Department of Health, have also attended.
The conclusions of the focus group will be integrated into the research that Prodeca is undertaking on the criteria that define the Mediterranean Diet as well as its branding and communication strategies.
