On Tuesday, December 7th 2019, the 1st Living Lab took place in Rodon Mount Hotel & Resort, in Agros area, Troodos Mountains, Cyprus. Local stakeholders were invited for this lab, from Public Authorities to Private Organizations and NGOs, as well as local businesses. The main aim was to inform all the participants about the project "MD.net: Mediterranean Diet – When Brand Name meets People" and the future steps.
In this event, which has been organized by the European University Cyprus, the subcontractor of Troodos Development Company, the Cypriot partner of the project, 25 people participated. The project was presented by TDC and the European University Cyprus. The Deputy Ministry of Tourism presented a successful example, the ‘CYPRUS BREAKFAST’ that focus on the breakfast that hotels are serving to their customers using local cypriot products. Moreover, the MD.net project was presented in great detail to the participants providing them with important information on what the term Mediterranean Diet actually engulfs. After the presentations, an open talk took place that gave real-life examples and creative ideas for further use regarding the brand of the Mediterranean Diet.
An officer of the Cyprus National Commission for UNESCO also participated in this living lab emphasizing not only the importance of this project, but also the positive impact that the Mediterranean Diet Brand could play in Troodos region. The future steps of the project include two (2) further living labs, taking place in January and February 2020, for introducing the project in different target groups with different best practices’examples.
